RICS, London

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors is situated on Parliament Square in central London. In 2018 they celebrate their 150th anniversary and as part of an associated exhibition they commissioned a LEGO model of their beautiful headquarters. The model was built in about 6 weeks and transported to London at the start of 2018 ready for the opening of ‘Shaping the World, Building the Future‘, which ran throughout the year, and even had a visit from the late Queen Elizabeth II. The model remains on display at RICS.

I worked primarily from Google street view for this project, with a trip down to photograph the roof in more detail, which was probably the most complicated part of this build. No interior spaces were modelled, and the supporting structure that holds up the roof was hidden from view with the use of tracing paper behind all windows. LEDs inside light the model, and the tracing paper has the added effect of distributing the light more evenly.
