This one metre tall LEGO off-shore substation model was produced for EIR Grid, Ireland’s electrical grid. With over 10,000 parts the model now sits in their reception area in Dublin.
The off-shore substations are currently under development and are needed to connect off-shore windfarms to the Irish electrical grid. More can be found out here. As they don’t exist in real life yet this project was completed using plans and CGI of the structures.
I also created a smaller, buildable version that can be seen here.
